Gavish program

Professional development of leaders of informal education through a community of practice for managers of municipal youth departments that acts as a platform for training and peer learning.

As part of Rashi’s Education for Life initiative to advance informal education in Israel, we identified the need to invest in the people working in the field through professional training and advancement. Investment in this track focuses on the managers of youth departments in local authorities, with the goal of strengthening informal education as a meaningful component of the local education system, thereby expanding opportunities for social mobility for children and youth.

The Gavish Program operates in partnership with the Organization of Municipal Youth Department managers. It aims to broaden the impact of informal education through empowerment and professional development of the heads of youth departments in local authorities. They form a community of practice, which enjoys professional training, development of management and leadership skills, personalized support and mentoring, and networking opportunities. Through in-person and online sessions, peer learning, and implementation grants, the program builds and strengthens the sustainability of informal education systems within local government.

The community is accompanied by experts in areas such as resource utilization, knowledge development, management and leadership, as well as mentors from the business or social sectors who serve as individual coaches.
