Community in Training

,An innovative model of group-based vocational training for young adults in the periphery combining acquisition of skills, personal mentoring and a supportive community.

Vocational training can open doors to gainful employment and opportunities for social mobility. But to realize its full potential, it must be tailored both to the participants’ needs and to the in-demand job skills in the area where they live.

Community-in-Training is a model of group-based vocational training for young adults from underserved regions, which combines skills acquisition, personal mentoring and a supportive community. This approach recognizes that in today’s dynamic labor market, technical skills alone are not enough. “Soft” skills – such as interpersonal communication, teamwork, complex problem-solving, creativity, flexibility, and networking – are becoming the most valuable asset.

The training program is based on collaboration with employers and alignment with market requirements, as well as on adaptation to the group’s characteristics. It combines several components:

  • High-quality training that includes a preparatory stage to close knowledge gaps, strengthening essential workplace skills and, and formal professional training culminating in a certification exam.
  • Learning community – a group whose members learn together, share experiences, build social and professional connections, and support each other.
  • Emotional and practical mentoring by facilitators who offer ongoing individual and group support and help participants overcome barriers.
  • Job placement preparation including CV writing, preparation for interviews, introduction to job-search platforms, and connections to potential employers.

The model is implemented through various programs that promote employment for young adults, with an emphasis on those living in regions most affected by the war. The fields of training include network administration, data analysis, digital marketing, fitness coaching, professional photography, logistics, and more.
